I am an employment solicitor with 6 years’ experience in advising employers and employees on all aspects of employment law.  I am really excited to be joining REAL Employment Law Advice and am looking forward to being part of Alison’s dynamic and forward-thinking firm.

I have a broad experience in employment law, including advising on disciplinary problems, grievances, workplace discrimination, TUPE transfers and Tribunal claims.  I also provide bespoke training sessions to employers on how to handle common problems in the workplace.   [Examples of some of the cases I have advised on include:

  • Advising a multi-national company on the employment aspects of the sale of a mail distribution network involving the TUPE transfer of over 150 employees and implementation of a collective redundancy consultation programme;
  • Representing a client in his claim for harassment relating to his disability, negotiating a substantial settlement;
  • Acting for a head teacher in his claims for unfair dismissal and age discrimination and negotiating a favourable settlement;
  • Representing an employee in her high value claims for constructive dismissal and a contractual redundancy payment, securing a six figure settlement prior to trial]

My aim is to provide advice that is practical and jargon free and to do my utmost to help every client achieve the best outcome.

My background is slightly unusual, in that I have come back to employment law after taking a career break.  I qualified as a solicitor in 2002 and worked for six years at a leading Thames Valley practice in Reading as an employment specialist, before moving to the United States.  After spending a couple of years in the States, working in the law, I returned to the UK to raise my family.

Happily, since my children are now at school, I have been able to resume my career in employment law.  This has included volunteering for a charity called Working Families, providing employment law advice to working parents on issues ranging from maternity rights to pregnancy discrimination.  This experience has given me an invaluable insight into the difficulties experienced by parents in balancing work with family commitments and is an area in which I have a keen interest.

I am now looking forward to bringing my experience to REAL Employment Law Advice and working with Alison to provide a first class service to our clients.

I have two children and, in my spare time, I enjoy cycling with my family in the New Forest.  I also enjoy running – well, jogging – and playing the piano to relax.
